Proverbs Chapter One Continued... Wisdom offended.

27 “When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.”

V:27-30 Take note of the word “when”; she does not say “if”! Storms, trials and woes are inevitable and we will need wisdom when they come because wisdom is the ability to know what is the right thing to do and people perish for a lack of it (that is why it is the principle thing!). This reminds us of a portion in the gospel of Luke 6:48 “He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.” “When” is the key word here.

28
"Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:"

God does not live in the infamous “Then”. God lives in the present “Today”. The infamous Then is when the foolish virgins went to buy oil for their lamps but it was too late to enter the marriage supper. Then is when the Children of Israel decided to go up against their enemies but it was too late so they were defeated. God operates in the Today’s of life; for instance, “Today if you hear His voice” (Heb 3:7-8); “Now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor 6:2). God moves today and so does wisdom; for the one who rejects her Today they will most certainly suffer for it Then!
